Nearly all of us leave New Haven eventually, but we need not leave behind the commitment to lead an examined life. Find circles of friends like the ones you made in New Haven, and challenge yourself to maintain an active intellectual curiosity.

In short, the Yale Club of Dallas brings New Haven to Dallas.  We promote Yale to the greater Dallas community, enjoy all that Yale has to offer to our alumni, and serve Yale’s interests in Dallas.  Most importantly of all, the Club promotes the pursuit of an intellectually engaging life in accordance with the mission imbued in every Yale graduate.

We promote Yale to the greater Dallas community through many committees and activities.  The Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) coordinates with the Office of Admissions to assign interviewers for every single local applicant to the University, and the ASC organizes and executes college fairs, informational sessions, and receptions for newly admitted students.  The Book Award Committee awards a Yale-related book to a top student in each of several local high schools.  Our Summer Internship Committee provides opportunities to Yale undergraduates to work in Dallas while our Career Network enables alumni to post and seek employment opportunities throughout the DFW metroplex.

We provide Yale alumni with an active community in which to enjoy all that Yale has to offer us.   Our events range from lunch speaker series to joint-Ivy golf outings to happy hours and beyond.  The Parents Club Committee provides a way for parents of undergraduate Yalies to connect with each other, as well as connecting undergraduates who may not yet have met at Yale.  Three committees (Secretary, Communications, and Website) ensure alumni learn about our events while the Membership Committee encourages alumni to support these activities through dues payment, patron donations, and sponsorship opportunities.

We serve Yale’s interests in Dallas.  Our Liaison to the Association of Yale Alumni ensures Dallas alumni never miss an opportunity to remain in contact with New Haven. When the University President, a professor, or prominent alum comes to Dallas, the Club serves as a point of contact for coordinating and promoting events for our guests.

The Club’s single most important task is to foster the intellectually engaging lifestyle we came to take for granted during our bright college years.  Rather than an exception, that experience should serve as the standard for what we do in the years after leaving New Haven.  From conversations at our lunches to our online debate forums, the Club offers a framework for alumni to engage each other in meaningful discussions on matters worthy of our precious nonworking hours.  The Club is even working on the development of an all-Ivy cultural house in the Dallas area.  In short, we aim to provide Yale alumni and their friends with an easily accessible entrée to all that the best minds should expect in the nation’s fourth largest metropolitan area.
