Yale alumni have an unparalleled tradition of service to others. From Dwight Hall’s student-led community based programs to the highest levels of government service, Yalies have given of themselves to change the world. Generations of students have gone forth “for God, for country, and for Yale,” and while each generation finds new meaning in this, our motto, the intent, and sentiment, is timeless: a selfless dedication to serve others.
This unites us. Many alumni have risen to this challenge to serve, indeed many are – as volunteers for Yale, or in their professional lives in the nonprofit sector, or on boards of foundations, or as elected officials, or by giving of their intelligence and creative energy to volunteer community projects.
We know that alumni want to “give back,” and the AYA wants to give voice to this dedication. We want to enable alumni to come together as Yalies in service to others — whether through their local Yale Clubs, through their classes, or through Yale’s many shared interest groups. By coming together we can be a stronger and more visible force for change for the common good.
