The Yale Book Award

Attracting top talent to the University

The Vice President for Yale Book Awards (YBA) manages the Dallas area Yale Book Award nomination, selection, and presentation process.  This VP identifies and coordinates with contacts at a local participating school to select an outstanding student.  The recipient must exhibit outstanding personal character and intellectual promise.  The VP for YBA selects an appropriate Yale-related book for presentation to the student and ensures delivery to the appropriate contact person at the participating school.  This process is repeated over and over again for multiple schools in the Dallas area.

The Yale Book Award serves a variety of important purposes.  The YBA raises public awareness of and respect for Yale University as the leading academic institution in the United States and globally, and recipient frequently go on to apply for admission to the University.  Given the YBA’s early identification of and support for talented students, these students are more likely to have a variety of choices when attending college, and they are more likely to choose Yale as a result.  The YBA is central to our efforts in recruiting the best college applicant talent in the Dallas area.
