The Treasury fuels our Club’s wide-ranging operations.  The Club uses its funds to cover:

• housing and transportation for our summer internships
• event costs associated with the Annual Dinner
• costs of the Harvard/Yale Game viewing party
• membership and newsletter mailings
• the significant cost of our online Club software (including the website, directory, newsletter, event calendar, dues payment devices, and so much more!)  
• costs of flying down top Yale professors to present lectures
• execution of joint Ivy Club events
• awarding Yale Book Awards books to promising local students
• hosting ASC receptions for recently admitted applicants

Please be sure to renew your Club membership, pledge a donation, and encourage your fellow alumni to do the same.  While volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, your dues and your donations fuel all of our volunteers’ activities.  Once the Club updates its 501(c)(7) paperwork, a portion of your contributions to the Club will be tax deductible for purposes of filing your personal federal income tax return.

The Treasurer plays a critical role in enabling the Club’s activities.  Working closely with the Vice President for Membership, the Treasurer identifies expected membership totals, calculates revenue from dues, and uses previous donor histories to forecast anticipated donations in the coming fiscal year.  Working with each of the Club’s Vice Presidents, the Treasurer requests updated expense estimates for each area of the Club’s operations.  The Treasurer then prepares a tentative budget, presents the budget for Board approval, and monitors expenses to ensure planned and actual expenditures reasonably align.

The Treasurer plays an ongoing role throughout the year.  The Treasurer accepts all payments (save those made online) to the Club and issues all reimbursements, prepares a year-end financial report for the Board, and informs the Board from time to time about the Club’s financial affairs.
